Brompton
An e-bike app concept built to feel like a Brompton
The Challenge
Brompton is a heritage British brand, known for bikes that are well crafted and well engineered. The challenge was to explore what its e-bike app could be, and to make sure it felt like it came from the same workshop. A digital product had to carry the same care riders expect from the bike itself.
We designed an app concept that covers the whole ownership journey.
Outcomes
On the ride, it strips back to key metrics and functions, so the focus stays on the road. Off the bike, it opens up into detail riders can dig into. A curated content feed links through to the shop, and a digital passport helps owners prove ownership and makes resale easier. Brompton also has a visual language and UI kit ready to build on.
A visual language from the same workshop
A well-executed visual language lifts the experience and backs up what a brand stands for. We extended Brompton’s existing palette with an accent colour that adds energy. Condensed type keeps metrics legible at a glance. Dark mode gives that accent room to be more vibrant. Reusable components mean new features always feel part of the same app.
Project Summary
We started broad, exploring a range of features the app could offer. Then we chose one area and designed it feature by feature, to show how the thinking holds up in detail. Building the UI kit alongside the screens made every decision reusable. That helps a team build screens faster and keep them consistent as the app grows.
